Using encrypted CDs/DVDs

Encrypted Chelsea and Westminster Hospital PACS CDs/DVDs should automatically activate the Chilkat Zip Self-Extractor when inserted into a computers CD/DVD drive.

If for any reason it does not, open the CD/DVD manually:

  • Double-click the ‘My Computer’ icon (usually on desktop)
  • Double-click the CD/DVD drive icon.

  • Double-click the EncryptedMedia icon—the Chilkat Zip Self-Extractor will activate.

Note: The Chilkat Zip Self-Extractor is automatically configured to save the decrypted images to your desktop in a folder named DICOMCD. The ‘Browse’ button can be used to select an alternative destination if required.

Click the ‘Unzip’ button to save images to your desktop (or browsed alternative location)—the Enter Password screen will be activated.

Enter the decryption password supplied into the password field on the Enter Password screen—click ‘OK’ button.

The self-extractor will run and when ‘Finished!’ is indicated, all Images will be stored in the DICOMCD folder on the desktop.

Double-click the DICOMCD folder and select the relevant EZ-Dicom viewer:

  • For Windows 98/ME/XP/2000 double-click the Ez-DicomCDViewer icon
  • For Windows Vista/7 double-click the Ez-DicomCDViewer-9x icon

The EZ-Dicom viewer will launch and images contained on the disc can be viewed (refer to the ‘Using the EZ-Dicom Viewer’ page for further information).
