Upcoming gonorrhoea vaccination programme

Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted infection. Research shows that the Meningitis B (MenB) vaccine can reduce the risk of acquiring gonorrhoea by up to 40%.

In May 2025, NHS England announced it will introduce a gonorrhoea vaccination programme in England, starting in August 2025. Full details are still being finalised.

The vaccine will be offered mainly to gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) who are considered at highest risk. People of other genders and sexualities may also be eligible if assessed to be at high risk—we are awaiting more detailed guidance on this.

We will share further updates as soon as more information becomes available.

Please note

The vaccine will not be available through the NHS before 1 August. We kindly ask that you wait for further updates before contacting clinics.
