Burns anaesthetic service

What we do

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital provides specialist burns care for people across Greater London and the South East of England. Our service has separate facilities for adults and children, as well as a dedicated operating theatre supported by a team of highly trained burns theatre staff.

We use our expertise to care for a wide range of burns cases, from shorter day-case procedures to patients requiring more complex burns surgery, with more than 500 surgical procedures performed each year.

Throughout their hospital stay, the burns anaesthetic team is involved in assessing and caring for patients before, during and after surgery, as well as assisting with medical management and pain control. Our burns anaesthetists also work closely with the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team to provide the highest standards of care for patients with more severe burns injuries.

Our team

Our team consists of dedicated consultant anaesthetists who provide a high-quality anaesthetic service centred on the ongoing care of burns patients. Our lead consultant is Dr Caroline Cormack.
