The Great Big Thank You Week
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is getting ready to celebrate its staff and volunteers with The Great Big Thank You Week, running from 7–11 December 2026 across Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital.
The week is our opportunity to recognise the extraordinary work of colleagues and volunteers throughout the year, with celebrations, seasonal activities and moments of appreciation across both hospitals.
Nominate someone for a Great Big Cheer Award
Has a member of staff or volunteer made a difference to you or someone you care about?
Perhaps someone made you feel safe and reassured, took extra time to listen, explained your care clearly or simply showed kindness when you needed it most. We would love to hear about them.
Nominations are open for The Great Big Cheer Awards, which celebrate the individuals and teams whose skill, care and dedication make an exceptional difference every day.
Patients, relatives, carers and members of the public are all welcome to nominate. You do not need to know the person’s full job title or department—just tell us who they are, if you know, and why you think they deserve recognition.
Awards recognise colleagues from across the Trust, including doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, clinical support workers, administrative and support staff, teams and volunteers.
Nominations close at 9am on Mon 28 Sep 2026.
Celebrating our people
The Great Big Cheer Awards will form part of a week of activities recognising the contribution our staff and volunteers make every day.
Across the week, colleagues will also be able to enjoy seasonal performances, creative sessions and other appreciation activities at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital.
The Great Big Festive Fayre
One of the most popular events making its return is The Great Big Festive Fayre, transforming our atriums into seasonal markets filled with gifts, food and craftwork from local makers and small businesses.

Last year’s fayre brought together staff, patients, visitors and community partners, and this year promises another wide variety of stalls.
Visitors can expect a selection of gifts, handmade crafts, food and seasonal treats, with previous fayres featuring jewellery, artwork, Christmas decorations, soaps and fragrances, homemade bakes, candles and speciality foods.
Alongside the shopping, the fayre is an opportunity to meet local independent traders, learn more about our hospital community and find out how our charity CW+ supports patients and staff through arts, wellbeing and innovation programmes.
Everyone is welcome, and we encourage patients, visitors, staff and our local communities to drop in, browse the stalls and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
