Anaesthetic teams at both hospitals consist of consultant anaesthetists, specialist anaesthetists and trainee anaesthetists.
Members of the team play a key role in assessing and preparing patients before surgery, as well as providing anaesthesia for non-surgical procedures including radiology, endoscopy and cardiology. Epidurals and other forms of anaesthetic care are also provided to pregnant women requiring support during labour.
At Chelsea and Westminster, the team works across several areas of specialist care including burns, intensive care and pain management services. They also provide dedicated anaesthetic services for children.
Similarly, at West Middlesex, the Acute Pain Service is run by the anaesthetic team. It ensures all postoperative patients are reviewed daily so their pain is managed as effectively as possible.

The Clinical Lead at West Middlesex is Dr James Armstrong. At Chelsea and Westminster, the named consultant anaesthetist is Dr Manisha Kulkarni.
