FAQs

I’ve received my P45 from my previous employer, what should I do with it?

If you have a P45 document from your previous employer, send it in a sealed envelope to Recruitment, HR Department, Harbour Yard.

When will I get paid?

Your salary will be paid monthly into your bank account on the 25th of each month. Where the 25th falls on a weekend or bank holiday you will be paid on the preceding working day closest to it.

I don’t want to join the NHS Pension Scheme, what should I do?

You will need to download and complete a SD502 form which is available online from the NHS Pensions website. Once this is complete please send it onto the payroll department.

What point of the salary scale will I be on?

Your starting salary will be the bottom of the pay band unless you satisfy either of these conditions:

  • You have previously worked for an NHS organisation (excluding GP surgeries) at the same grade or an overlap point of the scales—you should request that we run an Inter Authority Transfer to your previous Trust. In addition, please provide a copy of your most recent payslip.
  • You have previous comparable experience at the same level of post in any other organisation—which warrants credit at one incremental point for every complete year of service (evidence will be required to confirm this).

What annual leave will I be entitled to?

  • On appointment—27 days annual leave plus bank holidays*
  • After 5 years NHS service—29 days annual leave plus bank holidays*
  • After 10 years NHS service—33 days annual leave plus bank holidays*

*Pro rata for part time staff

The annual leave year runs from 1 April to 31 March. Annual leave is calculated at the rate of one twelfth of a full year's entitlement for each complete month of employment.

Where do I get my security badge?

On your first week your line manager will complete an ID badge form, you will need to take this to the security office which is located behind the reception desks at the front of both hospital sites.

What will my shift patterns/rota be?

Your shift patterns/work rota will be agreed with your line manager. Liaise with him or her directly to confirm these details.

When can I start?

Once all of your pre-employment checks are completed, you will be contacted by the recruitment team to arrange a start date. If you are uncertain as to whether your pre-employment checks are complete, please contact your recruitment contact.
