In 2020, the NHS set an ambitious goal to become the world’s first net-zero national health service. Five years on, that commitment remains central to our mission.
At Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are proud to publish our refreshed Green Plan, reaffirming our pledge to reach net zero for direct emissions by 2040, and for emissions we can influence by 2045.
This updated plan builds on the foundations of our first Green Plan and aligns with national Greener NHS guidance. It outlines our sustainability priorities for the next three years, including digital transformation, sustainable care models, greener travel, and responsible procurement.
Our Sustainability Board, chaired by Virginia Massaro our Chief Finance Officer and Sustainability Lead, will continue to lead this work, ensuring the Trust remains aligned with national goals.
There is action that each and every one of us can make to support these goals, and ensure we are working towards a healthier planet and a more sustainable future for healthcare.
