Improving Your Experience at West Middlesex Hospital: Emergency Department Entrance Temporarily Closed

19 September 2025

For the next 4 weeks, the ED entrance and waiting rooms will be temporarily closed to allow for essential refurbishment works. These improvements will help create a more modern, welcoming, and efficient environment for our adult, paediatric, and UTC patients.

We’re making improvements to the Emergency Department (ED) at West Middlesex Hospital to create a more comfortable and welcoming waiting environment for our patients

For the next 4 weeks, the ED entrance and waiting rooms will be temporarily closed to allow for essential refurbishment works. These improvements will help create a more modern, welcoming, and efficient environment for our adult, paediatric, and UTC patients.

As part of this refurbishment, we are:

  • Fully upgrading waiting areas for adults, children, and UTC patients
  • Creating new assessment areas and an improved waiting room inside the ED

These enhancements are designed to improve comfort, privacy, and the overall patient experience.

During this time, emergency and urgent care services will continue to operate as normal, with a temporary access plan in place to ensure minimal disruption.

While the work is carried out all walk-in patients should use the hospital’s main entrance (into the atrium), rather than the usual ED entrance.

Clear signage and staff will be available at all times to help direct and support patients and visitors.

Thank you for your patience as we work to enhance your care experience.
