Staff: Nursing and Midwifery

What do you do?
I am the Clinical Lead Nurse for Gynaecology, the Assisted Conception Unit and the Lead for the Community Gynaecology service. I am also an external adviser to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) and I commissioned and managed a very successful private fertility unit in London.

Why did you become a Governor?
I wanted to become a Governor to represent my nursing and midwifery colleagues in the strategic planning and management of Chelsea and Westminster. I have worked for 41 years in healthcare as a nurse in both the NHS and the private sector. I started my career at the bedside and I am now a senior nursing manager. I am at my happiest when I can return to nursing and deal with patients and their families face-to-face—Matrons' rounds are the highlight of my week.
