Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

Sexually transmitted infections are common and on the increase in the UK. As many as 80-90% of sexually active men and women have been exposed to the wart virus HPV and as many as 1 in 10 young adults are infected with Chlamydia.

Many sexually transmitted infections can cause no symptoms but if left untreated may lead to serious complications such as infertility. If you are experiencing any genital symptoms or you think that you have come into contact with a STI you should attend for a full sexual health screen.

The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital sexual health clinics offer the following services:

  • Full sexually transmitted infection screening. This includes
  • Full range of contraceptives including pills, coils, injections, implants, condoms and emergency hormonal contraception
  • Pregnancy testing and referral for termination of pregnancy
  • Sexual health advice and counselling
  • Post exposure HIV prophylaxis
