What we do
Our teams offer a full range of assessment, diagnosis, treatment (surgical and non-surgical) for diseases and disorders of the musculoskeletal system—or ‘bones and joints’.
We run a wide variety of general and specialist outpatient clinics and work closely with colleagues in order departments across the hospital to help integrate care around the patient and develop the best pathways.
We also support patients who need elective (planned) inpatient and day care surgery. From late 2023 onwards, many planned orthopaedic inpatient and day care surgeries for hip, knee, or other routine bone and joint surgery will take place at the new North West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre. This centre is based at at Central Middlesex University Hospital, rather than at Chelsea and Westminster or West Middlesex Hospitals. You will receive information on where your procedure will take place.

- Hip and knee replacements and revision procedures
- Complex soft tissue knee surgery
- Hand, elbow and shoulder surgery
- Foot and ankle surgery
- Paediatric orthopaedic surgery
- Tendonitis, bursitis and other inflammatory conditions
- Arthritis—painful or stiff joints
- Bone, joint and other limb infections and dislocations
- Fractures and broken bones
- Limb soft tissue injuries to ligaments, cartilages, muscles and tendons
Our teams
Our teams consist of consultants, orthopaedic surgeons, nurses and ward staff, many of whom specialise in particular types of surgery such as for the knee or shoulder.
