On Monday 11 May, 200 nurses and midwives from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust gathered as the Trust hosted its first Nursing and Midwifery Conference. Held at Hounslow House, the event focused on showcasing professional excellence, aligning with national priorities, and recognising and celebrating the achievements and impact of colleagues.
The day opened with a welcome from Rob Bleasdale, Chief Nursing Officer marking International Day of the Midwife (5 May) and International Nurses Day (12 May) setting the scene for the conference.
Throughout the event, lectures focused on topics including high-quality patient care, being the employer of choice, better care at lower care, leadership, and showcasing success. Breakout sessions offered the chance for connection, innovation and sharing ideas around quality improvement.
Nurses and midwives from across the Trust were invited to showcase their work and celebrate the unique and collective contributions that make a difference to patients, teams and communities through poster submissions aligned to one of the Trust's strategic objectives: Putting Patients First, Being the Employer of Choice, and Better Care at Lower Cost.
From almost 40 posters, a shortlist of 14 were selected for display at the conference, as well as exhibited in the main atriums at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital.

Congratulations to the poster winners in each category:
- Better Care at Lower Cost: Nawale Janati and Cindy Supan – The Economics of Virtual Wards
- Being the Employer of Choice: Kate Powell, Paula Tindale-Paul and Natasha Ryan-Davies – End of Life Care Training
- Putting Patients First: Hannah Phillips – Supporting birth choices and those who provide the care
- People’s Choice Award (voted for by staff): To be announced on Friday
