A talk by Dr Lauren Bull, Sexual Health Consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, has been selected as a TED Editors’ Pick following its publication this week.
Dr Bull delivered the talk at a TEDxNHS event, where she explores how digital culture is shaping young people’s understanding of sex, consent and relationships, and reflects on the role healthcare professionals play in supporting open and honest conversations about sexual health.
Drawing on her experience as a sexual health consultant and educator who has taught sex education to thousands of young people, Dr Bull highlights the growing gap between the widespread exposure to sexual content online and the lack of meaningful conversations about intimacy, consent and pleasure.
The talk also reflects on the role of healthcare professionals in creating safe spaces for patients to discuss sensitive topics, and the importance of empathy, trust and authentic human connection in clinical care.
Dr Bull has spent more than a decade working in sexual health and is passionate about improving how we talk about sex, intimacy and relationships in both clinical settings and wider society.
Her talk, delivered in the TED conference format, is now available to watch.
