Perinatal service

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s Perinatal Service supports the psychological and mental health needs of women booked into the hospital for delivery, their partners and infants during pregnancy and the first year of life.

The service is rated highly on our patient satisfaction questionnaires and we specialise in the assessment and treatment of psychological and psychiatric difficulties related to pregnancy, parenthood and infancy.

We also provide support to parents and their infants with bonding difficulties including emotional problems caused by severe reflux, feeding and sleeping difficulties and excessive crying.

Psychotherapeutic treatments during pregnancy and birth planning are provided for women with depression and anxiety related to being pregnant, previous postnatal depression, miscarriage or troubled delivery and other negative experiences affecting the process of becoming a parent.
