Dr Mausumi Das is a consultant gynaecologist at the Trust. She is a RCOG accredited subspecialist in reproductive medicine and surgery. She has extensive experience and expertise in IVF, individualising the treatment protocols to achieve the best success rates. She has particular interest and expertise in treating patients who have had previous failed fertility treatment, polycystic ovary syndrome, fertility preservation for cancer patients, mild stimulation IVF, recurrent implantation failure and in-vitro-maturation of oocytes for fertility treatment. She is actively involved in the day-to-day management of patients undergoing assisted conception, including egg collections and embryo transfers and is involved in quality management procedures in the unit, which has a strong ethos of providing high quality care. She believes in a personalised and patient-centred approach to assisted conception treatment. Dr Das completed her post-graduate specialisation in obstetrics and gynaecology in the United Kingdom, following which she was awarded the certificate of completion of training by the RCOG. She was awarded a research doctorate by the University of London for her doctoral thesis on the pathogenesis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. She undertook a 2-year sub-specialty fellowship programme in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the world-renowned McGill University, Montreal, Canada. She worked as a consultant in Reproductive medicine for five years at the Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, before taking up her current position. She is the author of more than 30 peer reviewed publications and book chapters in the field of reproductive medicine and infertility and has presented at numerous international and national conferences. Her current research interests are fertility preservation, polycystic ovary syndrome, recurrent implantation failure, assisted conception protocols and in-vitro-maturation of oocytes. She is involved in both undergraduate and post-graduate teaching. She is a member of several international learned societies, including the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the British Fertility Society (BFS).
