On Tuesday 12th December, players from Chelsea FC surprised patients and staff in our paediatric wards with festive gifts and football goodie bags.

Djordjie Petrovic, Benoit Badiashile, Conor Gallagher, and Mykhailo Mudryk took time out of their busy schedules to visit our young patients and their families in the Neptune, Apollo and Mercury wards. The squad delivered presents, signed autographs and posed for pictures with the thrilled children, families and staff.

The team were greeted by Laura Bewick, Hospital Director, who shared,

“A big thank to the Chelsea FC team on behalf of myself and the Trust for spending the afternoon with our young patients and their families. It was great to see how excited they were to meet the players and receive special Chelsea FC gifts this Christmas time.”

Melanie Guinan, Head of Nursing Children’s Services, also explained,

“It was very special to see the Chelsea players meeting staff, children and families on our paediatric wards this festive period. Christmas time can be challenging for our patients, as well as their families and staff who care for them so the Chelsea FC players visit was appreciated by many”.

The Trust would like to thank the Chelsea FC team for giving up their time to visit the Hospital and for spreading cheer to our staff, patients and their families this time of year.
