This Monday 31 October and Tuesday 1 November, the Danish AIDS Foundation visited our sexual health clinics Dean Street ExpressSt Stephen's Centre and our Emergency Department (ED) at Chelsea.

The delegation met with colleagues from our HIV/GUM and ED teams to discuss the roll-out of opt-out HIV/BBV testing in our ED, to explore whether this could be adopted in Copenhagen.

Any of our patients in A&E who need a blood test now have to opt out of being tested for HIV, resulting in new cases of HIV being detected that could otherwise have been missed. This means that patients can get the treatment they need, which improves health outcomes.

The visit was in partnership with the work of Fast-Track Cities London, a global initiative to end HIV by 2030. Our services are at the forefront of this ambition to eliminate HIV in London.
