Have your say—tell us what you think of our care environment

30 August 2022

We are looking for patients and staff to take part in a national programme to help us find out what you think of our hospital sites, so that we can make improvements.

Want to have your say? Become a Patient Assessor

We are looking for patients and staff to take part in the national NHS Patient Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) programme. This will help us find out what you think of our hospital sites, so that we can make improvements.

Who can get involved?

All patients, carers, family members, and service users are welcome, all you need is an interest in improving hospital environments for patients.

Assessment teams are made up of 50% staff and 50% current service users and their supporters (family, friends, partners, carers).

What will be assessed?

A PLACE assessment does not assess clinical care provision, but instead focuses on aspects of the care environment, including:

  • Privacy
  • Dignity
  • Food
  • Cleanliness
  • General building maintenance
  • The environment for specialist care of dementia patients and those with learning disabilities

When will the assessments take place?

These assessments will take place between 19 September and 28 October 2022, with the exact dates to be confirmed depending on availability.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided on the day and consideration will be made based on an individual’s circumstances as to potential support for travel and parking.

You can attend one, or multiple assessments—your input will be invaluable, no matter how many you can commit to.

How do I get involved?
