Service of remembrance for babies and young children to be held at West Middlesex University Hospital

09 October 2018

West Middlesex University Hospital’s annual Service of Remembrance for babies and young children will take place at 3pm on Sunday 14th October 2018.

West Middlesex University Hospital’s annual Service of Remembrance for babies and young children will take place at 3pm on Sunday 14th October 2018.

The service will commemorate babies and young children who have died during pregnancy, soon after birth or when very young. Staff at West Middlesex’s Queen Mary Maternity Unit extend a welcome to families, friends and all those who are mourning the loss of a baby or young child.

Sally Kelly, Bereavement Midwife at the hospital said: “Acknowledgement of the death of a baby, regardless of when the loss occurred, is very important. This service offers a formal recognition of those babies and brings grieving parents, families and staff together to offer comfort and support. Feedback from previous years has always been very positive and parents report that it has helped them in their journey. Some families attend the service year after year.”

The service will take place in the Multi Faith Centre in the hospital atrium and will be followed by refreshments.

You do not need to book in advance and if you wish for your baby’s name to be read out during the service, please let one of our staff know when you arrive and we will add them to the list.
