02 July 2013

The latest A&E attendances figures, published by NHS England this week, show that people using A&E services at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital are the most likely in London to be seen and treated within four hours.

The latest A&E attendances figures, published by NHS England this week, show that people using A&E services at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital are the most likely in London to be seen and treated within four hours. The number of patients seen within this timescale is over 99% compared to other departments at 86%.

These figures follow Chelsea and Westminster’s achievement as being the best in the country for seeing and treating people within four hours in A&E for the financial year 2012/13.

Tony Bell, Chief Executive, said: “Being seen quickly in A&E is clinically important as it makes sure that any serious conditions are diagnosed and treated quickly, preventing complications and further ill health. Coming to hospital can be a stressful experience and getting patients treated and back to the comfort of their home is equally important. These figures show that our dedicated team of doctors and nurses provide consistently excellent emergency care 24/7. We are very proud of this achievement and will continue to invest in our service to make sure we remain the top in class.”
