Work started in August 2010 to redevelop a large area of the lower ground floor of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital to accommodate outpatient services previously based in Outpatients 1 on the 1st Floor and in the Beta Cell Diabetes Centre on the 2nd Floor.

The first Diabetes patients were treated in the new department on Monday 31 January.

The new outpatient department on the Lower Ground Floor is part of the first major redevelopment of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital since it opened in 1993.
