Staff at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital are spreading some Christmas cheer to patients who unfortunately have to spend the festive season in hospital rather than at home by adorning their wards and departments with colourful decorations.

The hospital's annual Best Decorated Ward competition rewarded them for their efforts with cash prizes of £100, £75 and £50 on offer to the wards that made an extra special effort, thanks to generous funding by the Friends of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Judges including Anne Halsey (Friends Chairman), Sharon Connell (Hospital Chaplain) and Hannah Coffey (Director of Operations) visited all the wards that entered the competition before choosing the winners on Thursday 17 December.

First prize went to David Erskine Ward, second prize was won by Lord Wigram Ward and third prize went to the hospital's Sterile Services Department.
