It’s that time of year again! The Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity London Duathlon is open for registration and the Charity needs your help to make the 2009 team a fundraising success.

Last year hundreds of hospital staff and local people joined forces to compete either as individuals or as part of the team challenge. This year’s event takes place on Sunday 13 September at Richmond Park.

For those of you who are new to the hospital, the Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity London Duathlon is a run-bike-run event—the biggest of its kind in the world.

Each year, participants from all over the country—and at varying levels of fitness—meet in Richmond Park for a day of fun. This is a great way to get fit and stay fit and participants really embrace being part of one big fundraising team.

As official charity of the event for the second year, Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity welcomes this fantastic opportunity for staff to get together with colleagues and friends to help their hospital in an altogether different way. By entering the event and fundraising for the Charity, you will be helping to enhance the current level of NHS provision within the hospital.

After the success of the 2008 event—which allowed the Charity to make a six-figure donation towards the CT Scanner appeal—this year’s fundraising is focused on improving neonatal and paediatric care within the hospital. This is welcome news for Alex Mancini, Modern Matron on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and her team:

“We were delighted to be involved in supporting last year’s Duathlon. We all enjoyed competing in the beautiful surroundings of Richmond Park and the complementary massage provided by Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity at the end was most welcome! This year will be even more satisfying for us as we know that the funds raised from the event will contribute to the work that we do in the NICU.”

The entry fees are £53 for individuals and £99 for the team challenge—just visit www.chelwestcharity.org.uk and follow the links through to the event website.

In return for your support, Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity will send you a fundraising pack with training plans and some great incentives and discounts to make your experience extra special.
