A major review by the Healthcare Commission has rated urgent and emergency care services provided in Kensington and Chelsea as ‘best performing’.

Our A&E was a major contributor to this excellent score – only three of the 37 other primary care trust areas in London and the south east received the same top rating.

Almost 100,000 patients were treated in A&E at Chelsea and Westminster last year – 98.5% of adult patients were seen, treated and either discharged or admitted to hospital within four hours.

Diana Middleditch, Chief Executive of NHS Kensington and Chelsea (formerly Kensington and Chelsea Primary Care Trust), said: “Our achievement of a ‘best performing’ rating is due to much hard work and commitment of NHS staff across the board who have worked together to achieve excellence.

“It is so important that these services are there for people when they need them, often in the middle of the night, when they least expect to need them, or in a serious emergency. This review should give residents in Kensington and Chelsea renewed confidence in their local service.”
