Join our parkrun group to mark International Day of the Midwife, Nurses Day and ODP Day

18 April 2024

Get involved at Fulham Palace parkrun on Saturday 11 May.

To collectively mark International Day of the Midwife (5 May), International Nurses Day (12 May), and National ODP (operating department practitioner) Day (14 May), staff from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will be joining forces and participating in the Fulham Palace parkrun.

Rob Bleasdale, Chief Nursing Officer at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said:

“As part of celebrating each of these healthcare professions, this year our Trust will be bringing together a team of runners, walkers, supporters and volunteers and taking part in our local parkrun to mark these days. Everyone is invited to join - you don’t have to be a midwife, nurse or ODP to get involved and show your support for these professions that help the NHS provide the very best care.”

You can walk, jog, run, volunteer or come along to cheer on others as we celebrate and recognise the enormous contribution and commitment of our nursing and midwifery colleagues across the NHS, health and social care.

Chief Nursing Officer for NHS London, Jane Clegg will be in attendance on the event day, Saturday 11 May, cheering on nurses, midwives, ODPs and wider colleagues from across the NHS.

With more than 1,240 parkrun events taking place across the UK every weekend, parkrun offers a safe and inclusive space for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to be more active and social while getting outdoors.

Participants are invited to wear NHS blue or colourful fancy dress, and encourage colleagues, patients, friends and family to come along too.

How to get involved:

The event is completely free—you just need to registerto receive your barcode to bring with you on the day. Talk to your colleagues and register together, encourage your patients, friends and family to take part too.

Nurses and midwives who are taking part might also want to join the NHS England International Day of the Midwife group or International Nurses Day group to share your participation and achievements nationally.

The run begins at 9am on Saturday 11 May and consists of three laps of Bishop’s park between Craven Cottage and Putney Bridge.

On the day, don’t forget to share a photo or video on social media and include the hashtags #IDM2024, #IND2024 or #ODPDay.
