Friends Library
The Friends Library (Lower Ground Floor, Lift Bank A) is open for patients and staff to browse on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12pm-2pm. The library also runs a trolley service that visits wards on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings to allow patients and staff to borrow books. If you have a specific book request, please call the library on extension 58825/58827.
Friends Shop
The Friends Shop is on the Ground Floor near the escalators and is open Mon–Fri, 9:30am–5:30pm. It sells a wide range of items including gifts, toys, drinks, magazines, newspapers, cards, balloons, confectionery and toiletries.
Friends Trolley
The Friends run a trolley service which visits the wards Mon–Fri. The trolley stocks drinks, magazines, newspapers, cards, confectionery and toiletries. All proceeds support the work of the Friends.
Friends Hair Salon
Alto Hair, run by stylist Emma Montalto in partnership with the Friends, is now open on the 2nd Floor, Lift Bank D. The salon offers discounted prices for patients and staff.
Staff Lunch Trolley
In November 2022 the Friends took over the Staff Lunch Trolley, which had previously been run by B Bagel but ceased operating in March 2020 due to Covid. In partnership with B Bagel and their own volunteer team, the Friends have now brought this important service back for the benefit of busy staff who do not have time to leave their departments for lunch.
Sales
The Friends run sales in the atrium every Wednesday and Friday (Wednesday alternating between books and bric-a-brac, and books every Friday). The proceeds go directly to the Friends. The Friends also benefit from commercial traders who sell a variety of items every day at the back of the atrium between lift banks C and D.
