Celebrating NHS 75 at our Trust

05 July 2023

Since it was founded in 1948, the NHS has remained one of the most loved and respected British institutions and we were very proud to celebrate with our staff on this 75th birthday.

Wednesday 5 July 2023 marks 75 years of the NHS. Since it was founded in 1948, the NHS has remained one of the most loved and respected British institutions. From the first kidney transplant in 1960, to the first IVF baby in 1978, to some of our own pioneering innovation in HIV and COVID-19 trials – the NHS has constantly adapted to meet the needs of each generation.

We were very proud to celebrate with our staff on this 75th birthday.

At West Middlesex, Sky news broadcasted live all day - featuring interviews with staff and patients sharing their experiences of the NHS. The day culminated in a reception with the Mayor of Hounslow, Lesley Watts, and the Hospital Director who officially opened the new staff garden, cut the birthday cake and buried an NHS75 time capsule.

Meanwhile at Chelsea, NHS Chief Executive Amanda Pritchard visited to celebrate with colleagues and meet some of our youngest patients. The BBC Radio 4 Today Programme also broadcasted live as part of a special NHS75 show, featuring interviews with our staff.

Happy birthday NHS!
