  • Temporary IT problems

  • Chelsea and Westminster launch new blood borne virus testing programme

    Coinciding with the European HIV/Hepatitis Testing Week, all five sexual health clinics along with the Emergency Department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital are coming together this month to provide a range of opportunities for people across north west London to receive blood borne virus (BBV) testing.

  • Keep healthy this winter

    Doctors and nurses from both hospitals urge local people to take some small practical steps to keep themselves healthy this winter, particularly those with long-term conditions and those over 65, so they do not require a visit to hospital.

  • Getting to know West Middlesex University Hospital

    On Friday 23 October, West Middlesex University Hospital welcomed 30 visitors to a special ‘Getting to know your hospital’ event to help improve the overall experience of patients with learning disabilities and to dispel any fears or concerns they might have about coming to hospital.

  • Global Handwashing Day—clean hands protect patients

    Global Handwashing Day takes place every year on 15 October and staff at West Middlesex University Hospital are encouraging visitors and staff to keep their hands clean and germ-free to help protect their patients from infection.

    Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust encourages people who experience day- or night-time hypos to TALK Hypos with their doctor or nurse.

  • Successful seminar for members of our Foundation Trust

    On Tuesday 8 September Dr Susan Childs, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Dr Bianca Kuehler, Speciality Doctor in Pain presented a seminar to our hospital members about the survivors of torture clinic and also pain management.

    Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS foundation Trust welcomed The Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea on Wednesday 9 September.

  • Proposed tube strike 5/6 August

    A proposed tube strike is due to take place from 18:30 on Wednesday 5 August with services resuming on Friday 7 August. There will be no tubes on Thursday 6 August.

  • Website focus group Friday 17 July

    Patients and members of the public are invited to take part in a focus group to preview and provide feedback on the upcoming redesign of the Trust website which will combine content from Chelsea and Westminster and West Middlesex hospitals.

  • Proposed tube strike 8/9 July

    A proposed tube strike is due to take place from 6:30pm today Wednesday 8 July until the morning of Friday 10 July where there will be some disruption until the morning service resumes. If you are a patient and have an appointment during this time, please plan your journey to hospital before you leave.

  • Additional funding granted to help new mums with mental illness

    A mental health and well-being project launched in October 2014 at West Middlesex University Hospital has secured an additional £108,000 in funding for a further 12 months to continue its work on improving awareness and access to support for women experiencing mental health issues immediately before and after giving birth.

  • Chelsea and Westminster sexual health services in ground breaking drug trial

    Sexual health clinics at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust have been taking a leading part in a ground breaking drug trial which has proved highly effective in preventing HIV in gay and other men who have sex with men. One hundred and fifty four of the 545 men who took part in the two year trial for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) attended Chelsea and Westminster clinics.

    Under the direction of the Trust’s End of Life Care Steering Group which includes, governors, bereaved family members, community representatives and voluntary services, and members of the hospital team, the hospital has been implementing a number of actions to improve patient and family care at the end of life.

  • Innovative and successful new pain clinic for the survivors of torture

    Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s Pain Clinic for Survivors of Torture, which started work in November, is the only one of its kind in the UK—and one of the few found in the world—providing an all-encompassing pain service that takes each patient’s physical and psychological needs into account.

    The start of a new year is the ideal time to set new goals and make a fresh start, particularly when it comes to your health. This January, West Middlesex University Hospital have been supporting the British Liver Trust’s national awareness campaign, Love Your Liver and encouraging the public to make a healthy start to 2015.
