24 May 2019

Winners of the 2019 HSJ Value Awards were announced on 23 May at Manchester Central where Chelsea and Westminster and the Royal Marsden Shared Procurement Service won the Financial or Procurement Initiative of the Year 2019 award.

Winners of the 2019 HSJ Value Awards were announced on 23 May at Manchester Central where Chelsea and Westminster and the Royal Marsden Shared Procurement Service won the Financial or Procurement Initiative of the Year 2019 award.

This year’s ceremony was culmination of an awards process which seeks to recognise and celebrate outstanding improvement in care quality and efficiency by the NHS staff and organisations.

Every entry to the HSJ Value Awards demonstrated that the NHS is constantly seeking ways in which to enhance both the quality of care while making every penny count.

This year, the HSJ Value Awards garnered more than 530 entries, a third of which were shortlisted and judged by our expert panel who decided our 20 winning entries (with an additional 20 projects also receiving high commendation in their categories).

Entrants demonstrated a commitment to outstanding practice as well as cutting-edge innovations. The judges were very impressed with the high standards of entries, testifying to the clear achievement Chelsea and Westminster and the Royal Marsden Shared Procurement Service has made in being declared a winner.

Ben Clover, Bureau Chief, HSJ, said “Some of the entries shortlisted this year were not for a treatment itself but for how that service is organised, to make it more efficient. Where would we be without dedicated people working to get value out of what taxpayers put into the NHS? Everyone knows how tight the money is out there now.

“But the HSJ Value Awards are not just won through belt-tightening, our winners secured this accolade for making an outstanding contribution to ensure that the system works better. Every efficiency, ground-breaking innovation and improvement adds up the same thing—better patient care. Thanks to you and your colleagues, for your amazing efforts to support the NHS’s drive to be the most efficient health system in the world.”

The awards were sponsored by AdviseInc, Foureyes Insight and Cerner. The full list of winners can be found below.
