Children needing treatment at West Middlesex University Hospital over Easter had chocolate treats in store thanks to the generosity of Virgin Media and Japan Airlines.

Staff at the Brentford branch of Virgin Media put their money together to buy a large collection of chocolate Easter eggs, delivering them on 28 March with one member dressed as the Easter bunny.

Paul Hughes, Area Operations Manager from Virgin Media, said: “Virgin Media are always keen to get involved with our local community and as West Mid is just around the corner from our offices we thought it would be a great idea to bring along some Easter cheer for the children in the hospital. Staff donated chocolate eggs, as well as activity books and colouring pens and we loaded them up into our special Thunderbird 2 van along with the Easter Bunny!

“It was great to see so many happy faces on the children’s ward, and we hope it made their day. We all loved the event and found it very inspiring and also humbling at the same time. We are looking to support West Mid more now that we have got to know the staff there and hope to be back soon.”

Cabin crew from Japan Airlines (JAL) arrived on 2 April with a colourfully designed Easter box brimming with chocolate eggs which they offered to children on the Starlight, Sunshine and emergency paediatric wards.

Staff from across JAL’sHeathrowAirportbase have been donating Easter eggs since the 1990s for children atWest Middlesex. Akira Tsujii, Manager at theLondonbase, explained: “We started making donations because we wanted to support our local community and the staff were very keen to get involved. It’s lovely to be able to visit the children’s wards and see the children smiling with their presents.”
