As a Foundation Trust, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is more accountable to the local community and its staff through its membership—which totals more than 14,000—and the Council of Governors.
As a Foundation Trust, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is more accountable to the local community and its staff through its membership—which now totals more than 14,000—and the Council of Governors.
Governors work with the Board of Directors as a 'critical friend', helping to shape the way the Trust develops its services.
There are 34 Governors and a Chairman including 10 patient Governors, 8 public Governors (2 each from the boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, Wandsworth and City of Westminster) and 6 staff Governors drawn from all areas of the hospital. It also includes 10 Governors nominated by partnership organisations.
