Diagnostic service

What we do

Our cardiology diagnostic services offer a range of non-invasive and therapeutic tests for patients referred to either hospital by their GP.

Diagnostic testing includes:

  • Routine, 24/48 hour and 7 day ECG monitoring and contrast testing
  • Cardiac memo recorders to capture infrequent events (such as dizziness or black outs)
  • Blood pressure monitoring (including 24 hours)
  • Transthoracic (external ultrasound) and transoesophageal (internal ultrasound) ECGs
  • Dobutamine (using medication) and treadmill stress ECGs
  • Tilt tests for patients with light-headedness or who suffer from dizziness or loss of consciousness
  • Exercise tolerance testing
  • Permanent pacemaker insertion
  • Reveal device implant to record events, black outs and other symptoms related to heart rhythms

How to fit or remove cardiac monitors

We are working differently to help everyone stay safe and to reduce the chance of COVID-19 infection. As part of this we are asking you (or someone who cares for you) to fit and remove certain heart monitor devices—the short films below explain how to do this.
