Ophthalmology (children)
The paediatric ophthalmology department is a consultant-led service specialising in the assessment and management of eye disease and disorders of visual development in children.
Supported by highly-skilled orthoptists who specialise in the assessment of young children’s eyesight and an optometrist, the service treats children with congenital eye and vision problems, minor eyelid conditions, cataracts and eye disease including problems associated with diabetes and allergy.
The care of children with squint is a particular area of expertise and we also provide screening for retinopathy of prematurity (retinal problems in premature babies).
