Infectious Diseases (children)

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s infectious diseases department is a family-centred service which cares for children with HIV. It is run by a highly experienced clinical nurse specialist who is supported by senior members of the paediatric HIV medical team from St Mary's Hospital, Paddington.

We also provide a high standard of care for adolescents living with HIV and support them through the transition to adult services.

Our service works closely with Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s adult HIV/GUM and maternity services and we have specialist input from a psychologist and dedicated pharmacist.

We also carry out antibody testing and provide a follow up service for children born to HIV and/or hepatitis C positive mothers, allowing them to be cared for in the same hospital as their parents.
