General medicine (children)

What we do

Our general medical service at Chelsea and Westminster is provided by a team of consultants with expertise in general paediatrics, supported by clinicians with specialist paediatric interests and highly skilled and motivated allied health professionals. We care for children as both inpatients and outpatients, however there is a strong focus on helping children maintain a normal family life and reducing the length of time they spend in hospital.

The service includes:

  • A 8-bed High Dependency Unit able to offer non-invasive ventilation
  • Care for children in our four inpatient wards (including one ward dedicated to adolescents)
  • A Paediatric Ambulatory Care Clinic for intravenous antibiotics, dressing changes and vaccinations for children with allergies
  • A dedicated paediatric outpatient clinics where children with any medical problems are seen

Our team of consultants includes: Dr Saji Alexander, Dr Wathik Alsaud, Dr Kingi Aminu, Dr Paul Hargreaves, Dr Ilya Kovar and Dr Michael Markiewicz. Other members of the team include the Director of Nursing, Modern Matron for Paediatrics and an Outpatient Coordinator.
