The first patients are being treated in the brand new outpatient department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Work started in August 2010 to redevelop a large area of the lower ground floor of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital to accommodate outpatient services previously based in Outpatients 1 on the first floor and in the Beta Cell Diabetes Centre on the second floor.

The Diabetes service moved into the new space over the weekend of 29/30 January and the first Diabetes patients were treated in the new department on Monday 31 January - other outpatient services are due to follow in March or early April.

The new outpatient department on the lower ground floor is part of the first major redevelopment of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital since it opened in 1993.
