E:

Chris Birch has now stood down as one of our longest serving and most active governors.

Chris and myself were elected within months of each other in 2007 and he became a very close colleague and indeed a close friend. His debating skills are second to none and he has always fought the corner for our patients and indeed the Trust. It was a great privilege to work with him as a governor.

Some of Chris’s achievements:

  • On the steering group for 56 Dean Street, a clinic which Chris was justly proud of—he could often be seen showing visitors around the clinic
  • Chairman of the Membership Committee—we saw membership rise in numbers under his stewardship and he was also pro-engagement with our members
  • Asked by former Chief Executive Heather Lawrence to sit on the steering group to plan and develop our now great Open Day
  • Member of the Trust’s Constitution Group
  • Instrumental in developing governors’ standing orders
  • Proofreading Trust News and adding his know-how as a journalist

Chris, we will miss you. A big thank you for your tremendous contribution to the Trust.
