Video resources and virtual antenatal classes

Update on antenatal class provision

During the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no face-to-face antenatal education or breastfeeding classes available at either Chelsea and Westminster Hospital or West Middlesex University Hospital. We want to ensure that you still have the information you require—therefore, we have put together a virtual information package for you to access at this time.

Below are links to a series of short videos which are designed to give you the same information you would normally get in the hospital Birth Preparation (or Antenatal) classes. They are supported by accompanying PowerPoint presentations and also a series of Padlets, which are collections of useful resources around late pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond.

Antenatal class and antenatal breastfeeding sessions on Zoom

We hope you will find these videos useful and that they will give you the information you need to prepare for your birth. However, if you have any further questions once you have viewed these, you can book into a virtual antenatal course with our parentcraft coordinator. These classes will run during the day and are only open to you and your partner if you are booked at either Chelsea and Westminster or West Middlesex hospitals. The workshops are limited to 25 people per session and require you to have the free Zoom app on your mobile phone, tablet or computer.

In addition, we are running refresher sessions on Zoom (if this is not your first baby) and also twins and multiples workshops:

Please also look at our birth preparation page for more details on the various classes. If you are not sure which classes to book or need further information, please email us.

Facebook Live service update sessions

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we are running live service updates every second Friday at 2pm through our Chelsea and Westminster Maternity Voices page. These sessions are for answering questions about your care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Session dates:

  • 31 Dec 2020
  • 15 Jan 2021
  • 29 Jan 2021
  • 12 Feb 2021
  • 26 Feb 2021

Previous sessions are archived on the Chelsea and Westminster Maternity Voices page.

Previously we held Ask the Midwife sessions which were open to any questions relating to maternity care—these are now covered within the antenatal Zoom classes outlined in the section above.
