Fetal medicine unit

The fetal medicine unit is a team of specialists who offer individualised care for pregnant women and their families where there is concern about the health of an unborn baby. Our team of renowned consultants and experienced midwives are able to provide a high standard of care in a calm and supportive environment. In cases of urgent referrals we will offer appointments within 24–48 hours. We are always happy to discuss a referral over the telephone to ensure an appropriate appointment can be made.

Parents referred to the unit can expect to be scanned by one of our fetal medicine consultants using the latest ultrasound equipment. Women and their families will be counselled prior to the appointment and then any findings will be discussed in detail with ample opportunity to ask any questions. Before parents leave the unit they will also have a clear plan for their ongoing care.
