Profile

Dr Nicola Bridges is Service Director for paediatric medical specialties at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, a Governor of Chelsea Children’s Hospital School and a member of the Paediatric Council of the Royal Society of Medicine. Dr Bridges and her colleague Dr Saji Alexander have monthly paediatric endocrine clinics at St Mary's Hospital. Her practice covers patients with growth and pubertal problems related to chronic disease (particularly respiratory and gastroenterology patients) and she has regular special clinics: a multi-disciplinary clinic for children with Prader-Willi syndrome (run in conjunction with the adult Prader-Willi syndrome clinic at Hammersmith Hospital, run by Dr Tony Goldstone), a multi-disciplinary clinic for children with weight issues and a clinic at St Mary's Hospital for children with growth or puberty problems related to sickle cell disease or thalassaemia. Dr Bridges has a multi-disciplinary diabetes team, with children's and adolescent clinics, support for insulin pump treatment, and a transition clinic (with Dr Kevin Shotliff). Dr Bridges provides diabetes support to children and young adults with cystic fibrosis related diabetes at the Royal Brompton Hospital and has monthly clinics in the paediatric and adult outpatients departments at the Royal Brompton.
