Vaccines minister visits our clinic leading on monkeypox vaccination

04 August 2022

Minister for Vaccination Maggie Throup visited our sexual health clinic 10 Hammersmith Broadway, who are leading the way on vaccinating the most at-risk groups in the capital.

On Tuesday 2 August, Minister for Vaccination Maggie Throup MP visited 10 Hammersmith Broadway who are hosting monkeypox vaccinations alongside their regular sexual health services. She met staff and patients, and said ‘About three quarters of the cases so far have been based in London and that’s why we are really focusing our vaccination effort in London.’

Our Chief Nursing Officer Robert Bleasdale urged people to wait to be contacted, saying we are seeing an increasing number of cases.

He said, ‘We offer the vaccine across all of our sites. We are taking a very targeted approach - ensuring those most at risk of contracting monkeypox receive the vaccine first. We encourage you to take the vaccine when you are invited. We will eventually further expand our offer to others. Our sexual health services remain operational across our sites. There is screening you can do online so you don't have to come in face to face. But if you want a face to face appointment, please do continue to access the service. We want to reassure Londoners, that records are confidential and held completely separate from your GP record.'
