Prudential RideLondon, a world-class festival of cycling, takes place in central London and Surrey this year on 3 and 4 August. On Saturday 3 August the Freecycle is taking place around central London and on Sunday 4 August the RideLondon Surrey 100, 46, 19 and Classic events take place throughout London and Surrey.

Although Fulham Road is not closed, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is surrounded by road and bridge closures for the majority of the day on Sunday 4 August, as the route goes from The Mall along the A4 and then back over Putney Bridge along King’s Road, Cheyne Walk and Chelsea Embankment. During the race, access to Fulham Road is restricted and many bridges across the Thames will be closed to vehicles. Pedestrian access will be controlled by stewards. Trains and tube services will be running as normal, but bus routes will be affected.

During this period we are committed to maintaining Trust operations and access for urgent patients and traffic, including women in labour and burns patient referrals. London Ambulance is working closely with RideLondon organisers to ensure ambulance access will be maintained. Parents who are expecting to give birth around that weekend should speak to their community midwife for details about how they can reach the hospital by car on 4 August.

If you need to be at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital that weekend, please plan your journey carefully in advance and be aware that road and bridge closures will come into place several hours ahead of the event.

The Prudential RideLondon helpdesk is also available to help plan your route to the hospital during the event and can advise where you can cross the race. They can be contacted on 0345 894 9773:
