The reFReSH clinic based in John Hunter Clinic at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is celebrating a successful first year of providing sexual health services tomorrow Thursday 14 April.

reFReSH was designed to meet the sexual health needs of LGBTQ service users, including those with HIV. reFReSH works in close collaboration with drug services and with our specialist Trans* service, CliniQ based at 56 Dean Street.

The reFReSH clinic offers non-judgmental holistic sexual health care which enables them to discuss complex issues with clients—such as sexuality and gender concerns, intimate partner violence and sexual assault, as well as risk reduction relating to recreational drug and alcohol use.

Dr Tristan Barber (Lead Clinician for reFReSH) said: “Having responded to the needs of our LGBTQ service users we have been really pleased at the success of reFReSH in the past year. It’s given us a unique opportunity to develop our staff and we’ve been particularly well placed to give support and advice to users accessing pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) via the internet.

"We are looking forward to growing in the next year and are focused on improving our multidisciplinary service to provide further risk-reduction advice around safe use of alcohol and recreational drugs.”
