A generous family has raised £6,000 for the West Middlesex University Hospital’s maternity unit to be used in its bereavement suite following their own tragic loss.

Faye and Bobby’s daughter, Grace June Millard, was stillborn on 14 September 2015. The care they received while in the maternity unit’s Butterfly Suite had a lasting impact. “All the staff we encountered were amazing and we were so fortunate that the hospital has a special suite where we could spend precious time with our daughter. It really made a huge difference and we wanted to give something back to the hospital that would help other families going through something similar to us.”

With the help of their families they set about raising money for the maternity service and returned on the first anniversary of Grace’s birth to present the hospital with the £6,000 they have raised. “We want to thank the incredible staff here for everything they have done in making such a tragic event as easy as possible. We would also like to thank everyone who gave so generously and supported us in raising so much money.”

Sally Kelly, Specialist Bereavement Midwife, said “I am so happy that we were able to offer Faye, Bobby and family the care and support at the time they needed it most. Their generous donation has given us the opportunity to improve our Bereavement Suite facilities so enhancing the experience for other bereft parents. Thank you so much.”
