West Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Cuthbert to its Trust Board.

West Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Cuthbert to its Trust Board.

Sarah will take up the position of Non-executive Director (NED) in April, following the retirement at the end of March of Stephen Clark, who has served on the Board for ten years.

Stephen has chaired a number of Committees during this time including Clinical Excellence, Finance and Performance and, most recently, Equalities. He has also served on the Audit Committee. Away from West Middlesex, Stephen chairs the North West London Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards for consultants and has worked hard to ensure the clinicians from District General Hospitals are recognised alongside colleagues from the large teaching hospitals.

Stephen said: “We have come a long way over the last decade in the quality of service to our patients, and staff should be proud of all they have achieved. I wish West Mid all the best in the years to come.”

Chairman Tom Hayhoe said: “Stephen has made a great contribution to the development of West Middlesex over the past ten years, in particular as champion for the interests of older people in the hospital. We will miss his challenge and wise counsel at the Board.

“I am very pleased to welcome Sarah Cuthbert as Stephen’s replacement.  Her knowledge of the NHS from her time as a director of Hounslow PCT and NHS North West London will be very valuable to us over the next year.”

Sarah has been a NED and acting Chair at NHS Hounslow Primary Care Trust, NED on the NHS North West London Cluster Board and the laymember for governance and conflicts of interest and audit chair for the CWHH (Central London,West London, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Hounslow) shadow clinical commissioning groups. She said: "I am delighted to be joining the Board of West Middlesex University Hospital at a time of unprecedented change across the NHS. I hope that my experience of working with local Primary Care Trusts means I will be able to reflect the views of the local community as well as bringing the perspective of local commissioning GPs to the Trust Board."

Non-executive appointments to NHS Trusts made by the NHS Trust Development Authority are subject to the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments.

Sarah Cuthbert has been appointed from 1 April 2013 until 31 March 2015 and is entitled to receive a remuneration of £6,096 per annum.
