The search has been on for the outstanding individuals or teams who make the greatest difference to our patients and hospital as we run the first Chelsea and Westminster Star Awards—made possible by generous sponsorship from Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity.

Staff and patients have submitted almost 800 nominations to reward and recognise the efforts of frontline and behind the scenes staff alike.

The awards are split into 2 distinct sections—patients were invited to nominate staff for the Patient Choice Award, which could be any member of staff working at Chelsea and Westminster, while staff were invited to nominate their colleagues for any one of 17 Staff Choice awards divided into professional groups and areas of achievement.

In addition, Chief Executive Heather Lawrence will present a Special Award and the Council of Governors (including elected representatives of patients, members of the public and staff) will also present a Special Award.

The deadline for nominations was 3pm on Friday 23 March and now the hundreds of nominations will be assessed by judging panels to shortlist 3 staff or teams in each category.

The Star Awards shortlist will be published here w/c Monday 9 April.
