Local hospital Trust partners with digital innovator to win prestigious healthcare partnership award

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and digital innovator patchwork have won a prestigious award for digital transformation at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2019 (March 20), which showcases the most effective partnerships in healthcare.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and digital innovator patchwork have won a prestigious award for digital transformation at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2019 (March 20), which showcases the most effective partnerships in healthcare. 

The partnership were named winners in the Medical Software, Systems and Technology category for an pioneering digital solution which provides NHS temporary staff (locums) with the ability to easily book bank shifts via an app. 

The judges felt that this was an exciting and innovative project with transformative potential. They believed the project was well focused and able to provide important outcomes in its current setting with impressive savings. It was not just about a piece of software but working directly with teams to positively affect organisational culture.

Rob Hodgkiss, Chief Operating Officer at the Trust, said: “We are thrilled to have won this award. Through our partnership with Patchwork we have improved bank staff fill rates and reduced agency spend. This demonstrates how through sector-leading innovation we continue to deliver value for money and first class patient care.” 

The Trust was also highly commended in the Workforce Innovation category and shortlisted for the Best Educational Programme for the NHS. 

The HSJ Partnership Awards 2019 represent the most effective partnerships between the private and third sector and the NHS. The finalists were chosen from a competitive field of leading and innovative partnerships through a rigorous judging process. 

The awards are run by the Health Service Journal, the leading UK health publication.
