Chelsea site staff play at Chelsea FC

27 May 2021

Some lucky staff from our Chelsea site took part in a local 6-a-side football tournament at Chelsea FC.

On Tuesday, some lucky staff from our Chelsea site took part in a local NHS 6-a-side football tournament at Chelsea FC, who generously hosted the event at Stamford Bridge as a thank you for all our staff’s work during the pandemic.

Staff were chosen by ballot and were really excited to have the opportunity to play on the pitch against teams from Royal Marsden and Imperial – our women’s team came 2nd (losing on penalties in the final) and our men’s teams came 3rd and 4th of the 6 teams.

This was a qualifying event for a London-wide NHS Trust 6-a-side football tournament that is taking place on Saturday 26 June. Organised by football charity London United, the final tournament is a show of support and gratitude to NHS staff for their amazing efforts during the pandemic from London football clubs. They have been twinned up with hospitals to provide support and host qualifying events for the tournament in June.

We paired with Chelsea FC as our local club, continuing our great partnership with them, and they wanted to thank you for all of your work.

Well done to everyone who took part and a huge thank you to CFC Foundation and Yokohama CFC!
