Edgar Horne Ward
Edgar Horne is a 28-bed ward with separate facilities for each sex. The ward specialises in Gastroenterology, Endocrinology and Haematology with links to Endoscopy and the Beta Cell Unit—we offer a diverse learning environment and the opportunity to develop specialist nursing skills and knowledge in a broad range of patient medical conditions.
Flexible working is in place on the ward and for day duties, both short and long day shifts are employed—staff participate in internal rotation onto night duty.
The ward has a close relationship with the outpatient Dermatology department situated within the hospital. The ward team includes registered nurses and healthcare assistants who provide individualised care to patients.
Learners are welcomed to the area and include those undertaking National Vocational Qualifications, post registration courses and students undergoing their nurse training. Ongoing education is encouraged for all staff groups.
