Visiting hours
Generally visiting hours on adult wards are 2–8pm—however, this may vary. Some wards have rest periods when visitors are not allowed. Please check with ward staff for details before travelling—click here for a list of wards.
Lunchtime at Chelsea and Westminster
Our staff aim to support patients to eat well in hospital—lunchtime is at set times across the hospital.
- On adult wards lunchtime is from 12:30–1:30pm
- On children’s wards lunchtime is from 12:15-12:45pm
Anyone on a ward or entering a ward at lunchtime will be asked to return when lunch is over—unless their attendance is clinically important or if they are assisting patients to eat.
This is so that patients can enjoy their meals without interruption and so that nurses and support staff can assist in serving food and helping patients who need assistance to eat.
Please support our patients by respecting their need to eat their lunch in peace.
Mobile phones
We ask that mobile phones are switched off in certain areas of the hospital. Mobile phones may be used in the main public areas of the hospital. There are signs in areas where you must switch off your phone.
Refreshments
The Friends Shop is on the Ground Floor near the escalators. It sells a wide range of items including gifts, toys, drinks, magazines, newspapers, cards, balloons, confectionery and toiletries.
The hospital Restaurant is on the Lower Ground Floor between Lift Banks C and D.
Costa Coffee is on the Ground Floor between Lift Banks B and C.
Entertainment
Hospital Arts, part of Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity, organises lunchtime performances every Thursday. Find out more on their website.
Seeing the doctor
Nursing staff are happy to discuss your relative’s condition, providing that person has no objection. If you want to see a doctor, please ask the nursing staff or midwife to make an appointment.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital operates a strict no smoking policy.
