Information for visitors
Visiting times
Visiting times for most wards are 10am–9pm.
Important note: Please do not visit either hospital if you have symptoms of coronavirus, a cold or flu, or if you have had sickness and/or diarrhoea in the past 48 hours.
Seeing the doctor
Nursing staff are happy to discuss your relative’s condition, providing that person has no objection. If you want to see a doctor, please ask the nursing staff or midwife to make an appointment.
Lunchtime
Our staff aim to support patients to eat well in hospital—lunchtime is at set times across the hospitals.
- On adult wards lunchtime is from 12:30–1:30pm
- On children’s wards lunchtime is from 12:15-12:45pm
Anyone on a ward or entering a ward at lunchtime will be asked to return when lunch is over—unless their attendance is clinically important or if they are assisting patients to eat.
Refreshments
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
There are two coffee shops—Costa Coffee on the Ground Floor behind Lift Bank B and The Bean Room on the Lower Ground Floor in the waiting area of the Outpatients Department.
Costa Coffee opening times:
- Mon–Fri: 7am–7pm
- Sat/Sun: 7:30am–5pm
The Bean Room opening times:
- Mon–Fri: 8:30am–4:30pm
- Sat/Sun: Closed
The restaurant is on the Lower Ground Floor between Lift Banks C and D and can be accessed by either the lifts or the escalators. The restaurant is open Mon–Fri, 7:30am–5pm (closed at weekends).
The Friends Shop is on the Ground Floor near the escalators.
West Middlesex University Hospital
Costa Coffee opening times:
- Mon–Fri, 7am–8pm
- Sat/Sun 11am–6pm
Rumbles Restaurant is at the back of the atrium, in the East Wing of the hospital. It is open seven days a week from 7:30am–8:30pm.
There is a general shop in the hospital atrium, which is open Mon–Fri, 8am–8pm, and weekends 10am–4pm.
Live entertainment
The hospital charity CW+ organise free, lunchtime performances every Thursday at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in the main atrium at 1–1:45pm.
Cash machines
At Chelsea and Westminster Hospital there is a cash machine to the left of the main hospital entrance. At West Middlesex University Hospital there is a cash machine located within the hospital shop (no charge for withdrawals).
Hairdressers
At Chelsea and Westminster Hospital the hairdresser is located on the 2nd Floor, Lift Bank D open Tue–Fri, 10:30am–5:30pm—call 020 3315 8681 or 07565 108 045 to book an appointment. At West Middlesex University Hospital there is a hairdresser located in the hospital atrium opposite the coffee shop.
Mobile phones
Mobile phones may be used in main public areas. There are signs in areas where you must switch off your phone or put it in airplane/flight mode.
No smoking policy
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust operates a strict no smoking policy at all sites.
Flowers and plants
We ask that visitors do not bring/send flowers or plants.
